Bavarian Princess

We pulled into
An alpine restaurant
Nestled into the forest
Of the Bavarian highlands
For a bite to eat,
And I’m not sure
Whether it was
The cool fresh mountain air,
The fine German cuisine,
Or the smile
Of the maiden
Who served the meal,
But I was suddenly rejuvenated
With a zest for life
I haven’t experience
Since I was a teenager.
I looked her up and down
Inside and out,
And I definitely
Liked what I saw.
She was radiantly robust,
Bright and cheerful,
Perfectly proportioned,
With the healthy exuberance
Of a mountain bred
Village girl,
And I had immediate
Thoughts of amending
My travel itinerary.
My daughters
Must have sensed
They were being
Left out of the picture,
Because they hurriedly
Dragged me out of there
Before I made a fool
Out of myself.
A left with a hearty
Smile on my face
And a deep reverence
For the God
Who must have had
A hand in creating
Such a princess as that.
