Abstract Appreciation

It's a masterful painting,
Or so I am told,
One of the finest examples
Of modern abstract art,
But it doesn’t
Do a thing for me.
Some people rave
About such things,
But all I see are
Squiggles and lines,
Random splatters
And blotches of color
Applied with no apparent
Logic or order.
I watch others staring at it,
Pondering it’s intricacies,
And I wonder
How many of them
Would actually hang it
In their home.
I sense there must be a key
To unlocking an appreciation
Of that kind of art,
But I just never found that key.
