Archway Amphitheaters

I will always remember Munich
As the city of music.
In the evening
After the street bands
Had folded up shop
And moved on,
Instrumental groups
Moved in to occupy
The arched entrance ways
Of local buildings.
Those archways
Must have been
Designed with music in mind,
For each one
Provided an unsurpassed
Acoustic amphitheater
Which projected
The musical melodies
Crisply and cleanly
Out onto the street,
Yet each was inset
So the sounds
From one archway
Didn’t disrupt
The sounds from another.
As we walked along,
We moved
One musical stage
To the next,
Sampling some of
The most beautiful sounds
Known to man.
