The Other Side of Tough

Having cast aside
Her tough girl act
With which she keeps
The world at bay,
She sits there
Looking kind of pretty,
But a little nervous
And ill at ease.
Her new found timidity
And shy reluctance
To speak out
May be a product of
Momentary insecurity,
But they lend
An uncharacteristic
Vulnerability
And a softness
To an otherwise
Hardened persona
That’s simply inviting.
