The Silent Martyr

She had silenced
And subverted
All hers desires
To those of others,
And made their wishes
Her command.
Though she never
Articulated
What she wanted,
At least not
So others could hear,
She suffered
And raged inwardly
That none
Of her longings
Were ever fulfilled.
