Monsters of the Dark

It is such a spectacular world
When we are young
And able to let
Our minds run wild.
We concoct frightful ghosts
Which lurk in the dark,
Hideous monsters
Which hide in our closet,
Or under our bed,
Boggy Men
Who threaten to grab us
The moment we fall asleep.
Fiendish wonders
Of our youthful minds
Entertain us each night.
You in your foolishness,
And limited imagination,
Ask us why
It takes us so long
To go to sleep!
