Maybe I’m just
Feeling my age,
But I find myself
Slowing down,
Taking more time
To smell the roses,
And reflecting on
The life I have lived.
I have known
Triumph and tragedy,
Victory and defeat,
And have learned
Not to let any of them
Go to my head.
I have had moments
Of great inspiration,
And extended periods
Of astounding idiocy,
And through it all,
I have learned
To laugh at my foibles,
And all my pretenses,
To enjoy the sweet
As well as the bittersweet,
And most of all, how to milk
The honey out of life.
