A Matter of Perspective

She had been playing it safe
And biding her time,
Waiting for something better
To come along
For quite a few years,
Enduring a job
That neither
Excited her passion
Nor challenged her mind.
Suddenly an opportunity arose
With another company
Where she could
Dramatically increase her salary
And try something new.
She was so excited to begin,
But after a short time,
She realize that the new job
Wasn’t a good match either.
She spent useless weeks
Cursing her audacity,

And freed her up
To grow and to explore.
Though the new job
Had not worked out,
It had taught her
That she was worth more
Than she previously thought
And caused her to revaluate
Exactly what she wanted
In her life and her career.
She now has the freedom
And the opportunity
To create the life
She always wanted.
She can seek
A work environment
She really loves.
She is even free to move
Down to the beach
Like she always wanted to do.
Her whole life is up in air
And she can make it
Anything she wants.
Even romance
Has new possibilities.
It’s all in her perspective.
