Disneyland Memories

Now that I look back on it,
It had to be
More than just coincidence
That trouble showed up
Everywhere I went.
It was even there
Waiting for me
At the Magic Kingdom.
I had won a free trip
To Disneyland
Selling newspaper subscriptions
And there I was
With a group of hyper
Seven and eight year old
Confederates
Who had exhausted
Their “E” tickets.
(In those days,
You got a book of tickets,
And they were only good
For certain rides,
And once they were used up
You couldn’t ride anymore.)
Mickey Mouse showed up
And some wise guy among us
Got the brilliant idea
Of trying to trip him.
Mickey evidently
Didn’t appreciate
Having to fend off
Our rambunctious mob,
And our whole group
Ended up getting
Thrown out of the park.
