A Time to Let Go

She has worked
For a noble cause,
One she has been
Dedicated to
For quite a while,
But the job
Stopped being fun
Some time ago.
It seems to take
More than it gives
These days,
Leaving her
Empty and wasted.
Its mission
Is no longer her own,
And it’s clearly
Time to move on,
Yet she lingers
In transition.
She is not sure
Where to go
From there,
So she holds on
For dear life
To a thankless job
While drowning
In a stew
Of frustration.
It’s time
To let go,
To spread her wings
And fly away,
Confident that she will
Find a place to land.
