The Review Process

There are some
Distinct advantages
To chopping up
My narratives
Into more digestible,
Bite-sized pieces.
It definitely facilitates
Amateur editing
And allows me
To share my work
With a lot of people
Who might never
Get around to reading
An entire book.
The real review process
Starts the minute
I assemble a batch
Into a book.
The verbal perfectionists
Have a field day,
And are all too happy
To point out
Any imperfections
They might find.
I have learned
To steel myself
For their criticisms,
And to listen
To their comments
For insight
Into how I can improve
My work.
I use them as a filter
So the real editors
Can focus on
The substance
Of what I have written.

Hi Charlie,
Thanks for the comment on Two Writing Teachers. I've enjoyed reading some of your poetry. This poem struck me. I love insight into other's writing process.
Happy Writing,
Ruth
