Great Conversations

One of the finest
Pleasures in life,
At least for me,
Is having a truly
Great conversation,
One where
Genuine communication
Is achieved,
Where it seems like
Our neurons connect
And the exchange of ideas
Is practically unlimited.
It’s during such talks
That things come together,
Ideas coalesce,
Wisdom evolves,
And profundities
Get stated.
I invariably gain
Something of value,
Some significant insight,
Each time they occur.
Sometimes I will do
Most of the talking,
And sometimes
I will just listen
And reflect on
What has been said.
Either way, those conversations
Have become
The breeding ground
For my writings.
I am the most alive
When fully engaged
In such conversation.
Hours can pass by unnoticed
As we switch
From topic to topic.
It’s more than just
An intellectual challenge,
It’s the process
Of discovering
What it is to be human,
And I live for those discussions.
