Mark Twain claimed
The coldest winter
He ever experienced
Was the summer
He spent
In San Francisco.
I certainly couldn’t put it
Any more succinctly
Than he did.
He spoke for
A lot of us
Who have battled
The cold wetness
Of the Bay Area fog.
It has a way
Of chilling a person
To the bone
Irrespective of what
They happen
To be wearing.
