The Circuitous Route

It was a circuitous route
I took to get here,
One that took me
To far away lands
And exotic places
Half a world away.
I was a working nomad
With a low tolerance
For the boredom
Of a settle for life,
And almost no roots
To tie me down.
I chased after my share
Of rainbows,
And may have even
Caught a few,
But whatever pot of gold
I stumbled upon
Was promptly squandered
In my quest,
Yet I was left with riches
Beyond measure
In the form of lessons learnt
Along the way.
