At what point
In childhood
Does a person
Begin to
Concede defeat,
Or give up
The dream
Of making
A difference
In the world?
When does
The innocence
Of a child die,
And the restraints
Of adulthood begin?
Must we
Always sacrifice
Our initial sense
Of wonderment,
And open eyed
Amazement
At the world
Around us,
For the restrictions
Afforded by
Of our narrow
Definitions of reality?
Where do
These limitations
Really begin,
And can our
Childlike naïveté
Ever be reclaimed?
