The Minnow's Perspective

She was employed by
A major international company
And got to travel
And visit many foreign countries,
And do things most people
From her country
Never even dream of doing,
And she was paid well too.
She was rightfully proud
Of what she had accomplished,
And she was admired
And probably envied by many,
For few women from her country
Hold such a lofty position,
Yet she was not entirely satisfied
Because from her
Elevated perspective,
There was so much more
That could be done.
She had climbed
To the top of the proverbial hills
In her community
Only to discover mountains
On the other side,
And it was those mountains
That reminded her
Of how much more
There was for her to do.
She was a big fish
In her small pond,
But a minnow
In the larger sea.
