He was a young man,
Ambitious and bold,
Perfectly willing to work hard
Day in and day out
As long as he saw
Something in it for him.
He worked that way
For many years,
Working his way
Up the corporate ladder,
Accumulating things.
No matter how much
He accumulated
Nor how far he went,
It never seemed
To be enough.
He was no more satisfied
Than the day he started.
It wasn’t until
He began to ask
What he could contribute
To the world
Instead of what the world
Could contribute to him,
That he found the fulfillment
He sought.
