Raising Kids

To a certain extent,
Raising children
Is a game of chance.
As a parent
We do the best you can
And hope
We set a good example
For them to follow.
All to often,
Rebellion flares,
Our children fall in with
The wrong crowd,
Or they do things
That hurt
Themselves or others.
We often wonder
Why they make life
So difficult
For themselves
And for us.
All we can do
Is hope and pray
They will have
The necessary
Resiliency to survive
All the skirmishes
They must to fight,
And that we can
Maintain our sanity
While they are doing it.
