Fairness

Fairness is the standard
Or yardstick
By which I measure
The world around me.
In an ideal universe,
Life would always be fair.
There would be compensation
For every evil,
And reward for every
Good deed done.
My judgements
As to whether or not
Life is inherently fair
Fall on deaf ears,
But that doesn’t prevent me
From trying to be fair
In everything I do,
Or from demanding
Fairness from those
Around me.
