The Writer's Path

It’s a grueling process
Writers go through
To get their works
Into print.
It demands extreme
Tenacity and sacrifice,
And maybe a little luck
Along the way.
It can be an exercise
In frustration
And daunting humility,
For we lay bare
Our souls and minds
With our words
And present them
To an often harsh
And jaundiced world
To judge.
It takes an element
Of courage
To face that challenge,
For only a select few
Will become recognizably
Successful
With their work.
We often curse,
Rant and rave
At the tedium
Of the process
Even while
It forces us
To improve.
