Transformational Flowers

The young woman was excited
Because she had met a guy
And actually had a good time
On a date the night before.

Yet she troubled herself
By pondering whether
“Could this be the one,
The one meant for her?”

The following day,
While deep in a speculative mood
As to how the guy felt about her,
Came the answer knocking at the door.

It was a floral service
And a dozen red roses
And a note that said
He would like to see her again.

After the initial shock,
She started wondering
What the guy intended
By giving her those roses.

Her mood darkened
As she began to imagine
That he probably thought he could buy her
With just a dozen roses.

How cheap could he think she was?
Did he expect her
To go to bed with him
Just for a dozen roses?

She reacted in anger
To this perceived wrong
And was tempted to
Throw them away.

But she had to admit
They were kind of pretty
And they smelled so sweet
That she put them in a vase instead.

And each time that she looked at them
The flowers seemed to change
As she began to appreciate
The thoughtfulness of the guy.

Then she punished herself
With the idea
That he would never be
So attentive again.

But as she contemplated the roses more
She began to see
That he might be
The one that she was looking for.

The next thing she knew
She had visions of a wedding
Dancing through her brain
And a bed of a thousand red roses.

One should never underestimate the power
Of transformational roses,
Especially when subjected to
The interpretations of the feminine mind!
