Setbacks

It’s natural for us
Lazy-brained idiots
To wish everything
In life was easy,
That we never
Had to struggle,
That we could
Triumph with
Every attempt made,
But that just isn’t
The way life works.
Life is full
Of setbacks,
Large and small,
And if it weren’t
For them,
We would have
No challenge
Worthy of our time,
And no sense
Of pride or satisfaction
For any battle won.
