Predictable Conversations

In a communication class
He had an assignment
To log his conversations
So that he could
Observe the character
And the substance
Of what was being said.
It occurred to him
After doing that for a while
That he could probably log
Most of the conversations
He was apt to have
Before he even had them,
They were so predictable.
Then it dawned on him,
Perhaps that realization
Was the point
Of the assignment.
