She was middle aged,
Whatever that means,
And decked out
In full Hippie regalia.
She smiled with the same
Air-headed innocence
As a 60’s Flower Child,
And flashed me
A peace sign.
I had to laugh
In remembrance
Of the times
When it was normal
For me to look
Equivalently silly.
She had the beads,
The pendant
And the bandana,
The tie-dyed,
Florescent blouse,
The floppy
Bell-bottomed pants
And sandals
That were
Almost a uniform
Back in the late 60’s.
For some reason,
I seriously doubt
That apparel
Will ever
Come back in fashion,
But it did make
An excellent
Halloween costume.
