The Drive-In

Back in the fifties
And sixties,
Drive-in theaters
Were in vogue
Throughout much
Of the country.
Many a family
Got their start
In the back seat
Of a ‘56 Chevy
With a young couple
Pretending
To watch a show.
Modern theaters,
For the most part,
Seem to lack
The romantic ambience
Of those old drive-ins.
I suppose the advent
Of VCRs
Spelled the end
Of the drive-in era.
Young couples,
So inclined,
Now must go elsewhere
For their rendezvous.
