The Blind Man's Vision

He had the gift
Of vision,
Yet he was
Blind as a bat
When it came to
The realities
Everyone else saw.
He saw
What could be,
Not what was,
And this was a curse
As well as a blessing.
He could not see
The impediments
In his way
And therefore
Lacked the sense
To stop
Where others stopped.
Many judged him crazy,
Thinking him an idiot
For taking on the world
In such a way,
But still he persisted.
It was not something
He was merely
Trying to do,
For try was not
In his vocabulary.
He was doing,
Answering a call to action,
Creating a possibility
No sighted person
Could envision.
