It was a tremendous speech,
One he had worked and reworked
Over and over again
In his mind,
Fine tuning it to perfection,
But when he was done
Saying what he had to say,
It was clear the listener
Hadn’t been paying attention.
She was on vacation
In a world of her own
Somewhere inside her head.
It frustrated him to no end.
He might as well have been
Talking to a wall.
Had he been talking to her,
And not at her,
He most likely
Would have noticed
She wasn’t really there.
